Unhealthy, pointless. All you need to do is eat sensibly: cut out all refined, processed, hydrogenated foods. Drink only water, replace saturated with unsaturated fats, eat plenty of dark green and leafy vegetables, nuts, pulses, oily fish, fibrous and starchy foods, and have lean meat once in a while. That diet, and the walking, should do it.

Edit: I lost two stone in eight weeks simply by eating less fast food and replacing fizzy drinks with water or fruit drinks.

honestly and truly mate its crap. that slimfast stuff taste shyt and you'll get bored.

what do u need the weight loss for - special occasion lose 1 st in week or longer term?

if its quick loss, just fast eating lettuce and drinking water/tea for 3-5 days you'll lose alot

if its longer term, try:

breakfast: 2 slices brown toast with low fat spread OR cereal (weetabix/bran/oats)with skimmed milk and sweeten with either honey or cut banana
porridge made with skimmed milk and sweetened with honey is VERY VERY filling you wont need to eat again for the day! its low cal but is a bit gross and takes a while to make

lunch:light salad-no dressing OR small bowl brown rice OR 2 slices brown bread with thin slice lw fat cheese or lean meat or any white fish dish

dinner:2 course veggie dinner- fruit for dessert make this meal with high carbs. yea ok atkin says carbs are bad. but high protein foods are high cal and high in fat so you'll eat more of them

anytime in the day as much as u like: decaff/fruit teas, water, lettuce/cucumber one apple or any fruit not advocados

btw use stairs not lifts , walk as fast as u can and never use tyhe car. the 5 mile walk is a good idea too

Don't do Slimfast. As svidrigailov says, a healthy diet is the way to do it- because when you stop the Slimfast, it's likely the weight will go back on and it defeats the object. I think it's best you have a diet that you can maintain and make healthy choices that last when the weight comes of. Also, you might get bored with such a regimented diet and be more inclined to break it.

Just eat 5 portions of fruit and vedge a day with plenty of water and you will feel a lot better with your self, trust me it works :smile:

it sounds a bit much really. you need to eat three proper meals a day, but make sure they are healthy. i doubt those slim fast shake things count as a real meal tbh. just make sure you do lots of exersice. swimming is good. i didnt see where you live, but if its somewhere where you can surf, maybe learn that, its one of the most fat burning sports you do. i think kick boxing is good as well.

okay. Thanks. I think i'll give magic carpet's diet a go. it seems rather good.
As to why I want to loose weight, I'm fed up with being over-weight - see other thread about size 36 waist. I also want to make myself look better to try to get a girlfriend, and as my BUPA membership doesn't include cosmetic surgery the weight loss is about the only thing I can do.

Instead of eating Slimfast, eat food with the equivalent amount of calories. You don't need Slimfast.

Not to mention how expensive slim fast would work out to be.
Another thing you can do is write a list of loads of snacks/meals that are 200 calories each. If you put a bit of planning into it then you get loads of options, all things you like, and you can eat about 8-10 of them a day, which is a lot when you think about it. Also be careful of fruit juice, although it is good for you it has a lot of calories if you have more than a glass or two. Diet coke is fabulous, it has about 2 calories a can and always sorts out my junk food cravings.
