go to font, then click superscript.

Here's how you do it on OpenOffice:

Type cm3

Select the 3

Right Click

Roll over 'Style'

Click on 'Superscript'.

I'm not sure if it works that well on Word though . . .

alternatively, you can click on 'insert' on the bar at the top of the programme, then 'symbol' and a table will appear with lots of different symbols. Press the 3 and click insert. It sounds really long winded but its not..
