The best way to Dump a Guy

So here's the thing I want to break up with my boyfriend for the second time in 2 years. The thing is He doesn't live that close to me and I'm the one who always has to go to see him. He is too clingy, He doesn't understand that my studies come before him. Also I don't find him atractive at all, I thought only personality mattered but turns out I may be slightly shallow

So can you give me any ideas how to break up with someone gently, and not hurt them too much.

Thanks

Edit: Won't be able to reply untill tomorrow, so I'm not deserting the thread

I hate the breaking up part, especially when I'm the one who has to do it :frown:

I was dumped when I was 8. A friend told me. I carried on playing football happily because I had no idea what it meant.

But yeah, the expression sogs.

I know, it sounds so malelevilent so I prefer to use the term splitting up.

Yeah, at least there's the implication you were together in the first place, maw.

another favourite that I have used before is:

We mutually decided that it would be beneficial for both parties if the relationship was terminated.

I am a very verbose person, so such a declaration is suited to me.

Be as honest as you can without being brutal. Stand your ground and dont allow him to negotiate a break or anything.

get him to duuump you

The best thing for you to do is tell him the day before you see him that you want to talk about your relationship. That will give him time to clear his mind and not be as distrought (sp) when you see him. Talk to him about everything when you see him. Let him ask you questions, and give him truthful answers.
Since you two have been together for so long, you deserve to end it together, by making sure all questions are answered before it is finally over, and never completely rule out a chance of not breaking up with him. Listen to what he has to say.

If you really aren't that fussed, why not use the phone? harsh, but saves time and money.

You should definatly go to him.

Say something like:
"I dont feel that we can have a long distance relationship"
and then he says:
"why"
say:
"its not you its me, i cant handle travelling to you"
if he has any sense he will say:
"then ill visit you instead"
then you say:
"oh i couldnt make you do that"
then with any luck he will realise that it cant go on and youll be set

Job done let us know how it goes.

"You never had a problem with it before"
"Well I felt differently before"
"Oh so I'm not worth it anymore"
"Um, well, no, you're not"

But don't use the phrase "it's not you, it's me". It's quite obviously him as well as you because these things don't just happen in isolation. And if he's anything like me or anyone I've gone out with it will make him cringe...

send him a text saying "welcome to dumpsville, population you". On second thoughts, don't.
