# Investigating or investigation?Watch

Hi group.

Should the sentence read:

"The failed item should then be placed on the table if it is a repeat failure and requires further
investigating..."

or

"The failed item should then be placed on the table if it is a repeat failure and requires further
investigation..."

I prefer the latter, but wouldn't be disturbed by the former (at least as far as "investigating" is
concerned). However, I don't like "the failed item" - I would prefer some other adjective such as
"defective" or perhaps "rejected".
