I cannot stress enough how important I believe it is to apply to the strengths of your application. If you have a specifically weak aspect of your application, like GCSEs for myself, apply to somewhere that picks for interviews based on an aspect of your application that is particularly strong. I scored well in the UKCAT, so applied to both Manchester and Durham because of it, and got interviews at both places. Also, on that note don't be put off from applying because you haven't got 12 A*s at GCSE, compared to most applicants my GCSEs are quite poor, however that didn't prevent me from applying and in the end getting an offer.
