Removing body hair...

Any tips on the best way to remove hair?

Currently I shave, but its annoying having to do it all the time... Any tips on a method that is fairly quick and lasts, and that can be done anywhere, legs, under arms, etc. Oh, and that preferably isn't painful! (though I'm sure I could get used to a bit of pain if the smoothness lasts!)

If you suggest waxing... hot or cold wax? which is more affective?

I've never tried anything but shaving, so I can't *really* help. - have you tried that immac/veet "blade free" razor that works by letting a cream dissolve your hair, and then just swiping it off?

Yea, I've tried that.. havn't used it for a while though... if i remember rightly it didn't last that much longer then shaving... can't remember though  like I said, havn't used it in a while...

Immac stuff for hair removal from most places is good and effective. No pain involved at all!!!

Waxing. I would say get any waxing done professionally. It stings a little at first but the results are being hair free for longer after the first wax it becomes less painful.

Don't do it yourself though always get it done professioanlly!!!!!

I think waxing is best if you want to apply it to all over [legs/underarms/etc]

and if i was to get it done professionally the first couple of times whats an estimated price?

i have real issues with removing bikini line hair! its not the getting rid of. i can deal with waxing pain (just...) but it when it grows back, i always get painful redness, and ingrown hair. eeew. its the same with all methods really.

Well it is the salons discretion at what type of wax is used. I have had cold wax and hot wax and there is no difference really between them i have found.

For bikini wax i think roughly about£6-8.
Half leg wax about£10
Full leg wax about£12-15
Eyebrow wax £4-5
Underarm wax£6

If you have a local college in your area which trains up beauty therapists, then get it done there as they are always looking for people to practice on, and it is always supervised by a professional. Most of the time the therapists in training at colleges are fully trained in waxing anyway, it is just to demonstrate to their tutors etc they can do it which is why they always are on the lookout for people.

It also is a lot cheaper than a normal salon. The college if they do train beauty therapists up will have a salon within the college, so it is all done professionally and discreetly and is a lot cheaper. Prices start at £1.00 if you get it done in a local college.

do you exfoliate between waxes?

If not, then it would be best to start as it will avoid getting any ingrown hairs and red painful areas.

I have so much trouble with Immac, it starts burning in one area so I wash it off but half the hair is still there! And the bladeless razor doesn't really last longer than shaving, maybe one day, and you only get 2 or 3 uses out of one can.

hot wax is less painful, and usually more effective

cheers natalie.
ok... lets try waxing... professionally or at home? I know you people have suggested to get it done professionally but I know I'm gonna have serious lack of funds soon (being made redundant!) so am having to think about money too...

for £30-50 you can get home electrolysis with pads like slendertone from argos. put an end to this hairy misery

ummm... I can actually wax my own legs, but I'm used to it and have been doing it for years...
What you can do, which isn't very painful and not too expensieve (n the long run) is buy one of those roll-on waxing kits, it's easy to handle so you can do it yourself - I'd still suggest you do bikini line with a professional though
I've got a recipe for homemade hot wax though, if you want it...

how affective? and how time consuming? might be worth consideration...

But with waxing you have to wait ages while the hairs grow back, ao you can wax again! It means you spend half your time hairy anyway, and not just stubbly, REALLY hairy like a gorilla.

I shave the various areas but I can't do it too often because my skin gets really sensitive. And decent razors and shaving foam cost a fortune! Hair removal is the bane of my life.
