# maths coursework help! watch

1. hey! i have this quadratic which i'm not sure how to solve. it is -8a+4a over 24, or -8a-4a over 24. I think the answer is a over 6 and a over 2 but im not sure! is there any braniacs out there who can help-as my teacher refuses, and my usual braniac friend is sick! ta very much!
2. (-8a+4a)/24 = -4a/24 = -a/6

(-8-4a)/24 = -12a/24 = -a/2

In order to be solvable there must be an = sign in it else it becomes an algebraic expression
if you could repost the full question or email it through, there's plenty of help out here.

The expressions you have given look very familiar, much like the quadratic equation.

x=(-b +/- (b^2-4ac)^0.5)/2a

So b=8a, b^2-4ac=16a^2 and 2a=24.

a=12
b=96
b^2-4ac=2304 >>> -4ac=2304-9216=-6912 >>> c=-6912/-4a=144

x^2+8x+12=0 >>> (x+6)(x+2)=0 so x=-2 or -6.

Am I good or what!!!
5. I'm so glad i didn't take maths this year, i get a headache just looking at it
