I'm doing guide camp which won't be the most exciting 5 days but cheap. So yeah perhaps guides/scouts, or kids summer camps where you could help out?

£285 is a bit too much for me but that programme does sound fun!

I did think of helping out at a YHA summer camp but they required over 18s; and I am only 17. What's guide camp? where can I get more information about this?

I think for helping at scout/guide/brownie camps or whatever you might already have to be a leader. But it could be worth asking, obviously you'd have to be CRB'd but I don't think they would mind that you aren't 18 yet.

I helped out at an activity centre in scotland. It was great fun!

I did my Frimley PArk Cadet Leadership course costing £12.

Doing it at a guide camp or somewhere you already know people doesn't count as the residential is about meeting and working with new people.
Try local groups, i'm doing mine at a stables nearby who have a summer camp for kids every year. I know nothing about horses but i'm good with kids and i dont actually have to ride at any point!

i did a cadet course
obviously you need to be a cadet to do them (well most of them)
but if you get involved in something like that then it covers your service and you can do you residential through them
i also did my physical through cadets too!

I don't know the people though, it's a different guide unit from the one I usually help with, so I presume this would be ok.
