Promises !!!

It's not so hard to tolerate others for missing their promises. But it's really hard to forgive yourself.
I hate myself breaking my promises. I promised my friends writing them emails regularly, but I didn't. I promised my parents studying hard but I've been so lazy. I promised myself working hard on my revision ... but I am still standing at nothing. Well, eventhough I didn't say "I promise ..." but I felt like I broke my promises. I know I should change ... but :frown: it seems to be another promise that I might break. :frown:
I am still lucky that I have not losen any friends because of that. What about all of you? Did something really serious happen when you broke your promises? Or if someone break his/her promise to you, how do you feel?

Not really, I don't make promises unless I know I can deliver.

The working hard thing for example, I know I'm fearsomely lazy and would be highly unlikely to stick to any promises... so I don't make them.

If you're genuinely sorry though, people will understand and forgive you.

ahhhh don't worry about it....I know it can make you feel low....but just keeping swimming...I try not to break promises because then you become predictable....in life although you want to please people..also do things for YOU...then people will respect you for that...and get vicarious satisfaction from it..Good Luck!!!

Thank you, I didn't put me in my promises but I felt like I broke them. Maybe I am in a little stress.
as the bible says, never make promises, just say yes or no or something along those lines...
Im never 100% good about promises because Im human. - we all make mistakes occassionally and forget something we promised years ago, or are genuinely unable to fufuill them for more important reasons. generally I'd listen to the reason why someone didnt fufill the promise and see if I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I'd expect the same courtesy. The reason for breaking the promise might justify the breach of trust , like if it was to save someones life or something
I promised someone recently not to put myself down anymore where they can see/hear. Its a hard one to keep, but it I break it out of habit I issue a full appology; it would take mental controll every seccond of the day to never slip up with that one, if I was around them 24/7.
