Just wanted to know who else is going to Stanmore college in September?

Please reply if you went or go there now because I would really like to know what the college is like.

Thanks

Hi

As a mature student I attended Stanmore College for two years. I studied the ILEX Legal Secretaries Diploma for 1 year then the Access Course Law Pathway for the other year. In my experience it is a good college, the other students were okay to me and the tutors were very helpful. The tutors are definately committed to you doing well in your studies, and are always willing to offer advice in areas where you maybe lacking. I am not sure what you will be studying, but I am sure you will do well at Stanmore. Best of luck, and if I can help with anything else, let me know.

Hey thanks for replying. I'm studying English Lang+Lit, Business Studies, Media and I.T for my first year but will probably drop one for the second year.

Whats the social life like? And have you or anyone you know experienced bullying or people being horrible?

Hey, i studied for two years there last year. I took Eng Lang+Lit too, AS english teachers are a GREAT HELP.
Social life is ok- other colleges do have a better social life. I didnt experience or know of anyone who experianced bullying. People are generally nice, or just dont bother you at all.....

Socialising at Stanmore College is reasonable, the college is not far from Harrow-on-the Hill/or Harrow Weald which has everything that a shopping centre could ask for. In addition the college is not far from shops, which includes sainsburys, restuarants, banks, etc. I haven't witnessed bullying at the college. However, the college does not tolerate this kind of behaviour and will set an example to any student guilty of this. I wouldn't worry too much about this. If you know others who have attended the college there is no harm in obtaining as much feedback from different people as possible. I am only giving you my advice from my experience.

Thanks for all your feedback guys . Just one more thing lol, if you get lower than your predicted grades, do they still let you join?

Reply 7

Yes, they do...but only if its not by much....

Reply 8

Yes they do, they are very lenient.

I did English with Adam Conyer who is the Head of the English Department and he is an excellent tutor, it would be good if you got him for English.

Yeah I had an interview at the College with one of the business teachers, seemed like a nice guy. The student-teacher relationship seems really good at Stanmore.

It is!!!

Their offers for A-Levels aren't that high anyway, I think the entrance requirements are 7C's at GCSE including Engilsh & Maths. Being an FE college they offer a range of courses, so if you didn't get 7C's then they would probally be able to put you on a Level 2 program.

I'm not at Stanmore yet, but I think the times change according to your timetable. For example one day you may start at 9, another day at 12.
