I really like being on my own

I don't really get bored or lonely when i am on my own, and often think that i prefer my own company to being around other people.
I like my friends and enjoy their company, but i don't feel the need to be with them all the time, if i see friends too often i start to feel suffocated and i prefer to go shopping and do other things by myself.
So ideally, i spend most of my time alone and occasionally socialise, but i get the impression that people think that i must be lonely or think that i am a bit weird for being this way :s-smilie:

But is it really so strange to like to be alone? does anyone else feel like this?

That's OK! You said you like spending time with your friends, so you're clearly not a total loner. I'm a little like you -- I love meeting my friends for movies, coffees, parties etc -- but I also love my own company and I absolutely CANNOT shop with friends. I love to shop, go to the library, go for coffees alone etc -- it's OK to be independent. But just be careful you still make the effort to hang out with your friends even if sometimes it bores you, because you need them for the moments when being alone isn't your thing.
Personally I think it's quite mature to be able to do things and function without your friends, because they won't be there forever.

haha im the same really i enjoy time to myself quite a lot, its not strange really but i think eventually you will want a relationship

I'm the same, but having got to know someone very similar to me, I really just want to spend my time with them.

I'm just like that, to the point my mum keeps asking me if I'm a recluse :rolleyes:

Just make sure you do spend time with friends and family, so that you don't slowly creep into a little shell. It's really easy to do once you know you like your own company.

I'm exactly the same. I feel I can get by just fine even if I'm by myself, sometimes I just prefer it that way.

I too prefer my own company, although I also enjoy the company of others. I often do things like shopping alone, I also have been on day trips alone. Theres nothing wrong with wanting to be on your own. :smile:

That's totally fine and also...when you go to a pakora buffet, you get more for yourself... :ninja:

I am the same.. its nice to know someone is like myself. i sometimes like to be with other people e.g if i go cinema, clubs ect..
I dont think it is strange..

No it's not strange at all. I was left in the house to cope on my own from aged 13 when my mum went to work so I've grown to be ok with my own company. I do get lonely and crave company sometimes but I'm quite happy being on my own. I think it's quite good really because you learn more about yourself in the process.

I'm the same. Sometimes I want to be with my friends, sometimes I want everyone to just leave me alone.

Though I probably would get bored of solitude quicker if the internet didn't exist. You're never really alone, when you've got wireless internet.
