Revising at night...?

Hey

Well figured out that I work at my best when it is night time, mainly due to the fact that everyone is asleep, and it is rather peaceful! I wanted to know if revising at night has benifited anyone else; I have decided to start at 7pm, and end my revision at around 3.30.

Obv this means that I will be asleep all through the morning and afternoon.!
Do you think this is a good idea?

thanks!

If it helps you, no problem with it.

Can you concentrate for that long at those ridiculous hours? And I wouldn't advise doing this nearer exams - you need to find a regular sleep pattern, since sufficient sleep is one of the most important things you need...

Yeh, I used to during gcse/a-level but I didn't do it until 3am. I started at 6pm and finished at 12am.

Same here, I concentrate better at this time. I don't know why though.

many do work best at funny times of day, but you need to make sure you have a regular sleep pattern (not necessarily a normal one, but a consistent one). Keep in mind that if you have a 9am exam, revising till 0330 is NOT reccommended!

Ooh, I've got a friend who has an offer for orthoptics at Liverpool! Good luck =]

The hours aren't ridiculous if that works for the OP, and their sleep pattern is regular - just later than everybody elses. The only time it could pose a problem is if the OP had a morning exam.

OP, do what you like, I often get urges to revise late at night too - 8pm to midnight is when I'm my most perky. Though do be careful with your sleep - for morning exams you will have to get up earlier so bear this in mind.

Psychologists say past 2am and up to about 4am our brains don't work as well.
But do whatever works for you
Personally I couldn't live without the reward of telly and treats after a day of revision but whatever suits you, go for it!

I used to do those kind of hours, but apparently it's most likely that you think that you can work at those hours, but you actually concentrate a lot less.
If you can manage to get yourself to work during the day at normal times, you actually take more stuff in and learn better.
I haven't really found any difference though, so I'd probably just say work whenever you like, as long as you get stuff done it's all good =)

Night is for sleep!

There's nothing wrong with working at any time. If it suits you, do it.
Like you, I also do my work at night and I usually do my essays at the last opportunity; I usually start them at midnight on the day they are due in. As long as your grades are good, it doesn't matter.

Im similar except I found I work better early in the morning so I wake up about 4/5am when I want to do some revision!

Thanks for the responses!

I did this for my Science exams and got full marks on all 3 modules, so I thought I may as well give it a go now!
But the problem, as mentioned, is that when I have a morning exam I will be ******! So what times do you think I ought to go for, 6-12, 7-1?

thanks!
