AS History Source question Henry VIII

Hi,

I'm doing a source question on Henry VIII and was looking for some help. Its a part b question, so i think it is focused on own knowledge rather than cross referencing the sources.

The question is: "Do you agree with the suggestion that Henry and Wolsey counducted an effective foreign policy in the years 1515-25"

The problem is I dont know what own knowledge I can bring into this essay, so I would be grateful if someone could help me out with important events related to foreign policy.

Talk about all of the stuff they did in France! All the alliances, treaty of London etc! hope this helps

I'd create a list of reasons that agree, and a list that don't. So, for agree, you can talk about Treaty of London, Alliances formed, flexibility of Wolsey and the general fact that England came onto the main European stage.For the reverse you can say how England arguably helped Maximilian more than itself. I can't think of too many other things to disagree offhand.

If it's a source question though, use them! Read what the sources are talking about, and that's usually a good way to get think about different parts of the question. From there, you just need to develop what the sources say, and add extra info.

Look especially at how wolsey adapted to the diplomatic situation in europe and how from 1514 he made himself peacemaker in europe rather than satisfying Henrys neeeds for battle
