What do you all think are the attitudes towards interracial dating in the UK?

It seems that oriental men are highly sought after by French women. Black men are highly sought after by German women. And white men are highly sought after by Asian women. It seems Europe is not as hung up on race as the Americans are!

Here in London people don't seem bothered at all. It's less a question of race and more a question of culture which explains why sometimes people of a certain origin don't go out with people of a different origin.

It's true about Asian women liking European men. I know a Canadian friend of European origin who recently went to Taiwan. He wasn't too successful in Canada but he's acting like a playboy over there.

I can't understand why someone would have a problem with interracial dating/marriages, but I do have a friend who said she could never find an asian guy attractive, which I just don't get!!

I have yet to see a white guy with my background have anything to do with a black girl other than friendship, and even then that's quite rare.

Actually, in my area, I always see white guys with black girls, and not so much vise versa. And meetjoeblack, I agree with you on the thing that black men are highly sought after by german women. In fact, after visiting there last summer, I think that germans, of either sex, like going out with black people. I personally think its really to silly seek out someone of a certain 'race', you end up searching for ceratin characterstics so much you actually forget that the person u are dating is an INDIVIDUAL, not a trophy, or a symbol.

I am mixed race white and Indian and I have no problem with dating anyone of any other race.
However, my mum married an indian but swears she would never find a black man attractive. Maybe it's a generation thing...

Well, I am currently having a girlfriend now who is of the same race as me but honestly, I feel that race/skin colour should not be a barrier to love.

I mean isn't there a saying that love knows no barrier?

I believe the most important thing is the guy/girl genuinely loves you and you genuinely loves him/her as well. As long as both can respect, trust, cherish, treasure, appreciate and love each other, a love relationship should not merely be shunned just because they are of the different race.

Moreover, this is already the 21st century, I believe it's time that everybody should open up. :smile:

actually i've seen alot of white couples everywhere i go. i think it is becoming more acceptable in our generation. however older people may still have the old views.dating outside of your culture may be difficult sometimes to understand the language, expectations, roles of men and women etc if one of you is from a very different background.

appearance wise, i think subconciosly we seek someone with features in a ratio and proportion, and shape similar to our own regardless of race

Theres nothing wrong with interracial dating in the slightest, it's probably very enriching.
I don't really find other ethnic groups attractive. I only seem to like whites, and some lighter dark skins, like some hispanics...
Blacks and Asians just aren't attractive to me, in general...

I'm the same I suppose, (hispanic women are HOT!) except i'd rate black women higher than asians. This isnt saying I'm not attracted to other ethnic groups altogether, I find some attractive just find it hard to find a lot of them attractive

I find indian/pakistani women too hairy :eek:

There shouldn't be a problem with inter-racial relationships at all, and I dont think people in the UK on the whole have a problem with it. Then again I suppose everyone's intitled to an opinion.

depends on the area i suppose.

i know it would be quite rare in my area as its 99% white. quite a conservative area too, so it would get a lot of dodgy looks or even dislike.
