I've used one twice and it's worked.

shoudl be as logn as its not too far out of date and the pic looks ok

Reply 3

Just make sure the picture looks like you.

Thats the main reason you get new passports...

Reply 4

I would have though it'd be fine. Worth a shot anyway. People don't tend to check very closely and when they do they look at your birthday not the expiry date.

Oh hang on I'm thinking of it if you use it trying to get into clubs/buy drinks. What are you intending to use it for? If it's something official/important then maybe not.

Reply 5

If it doesn't look that old... how likely is it that bouncers will look at the expiry date? I'm not sure..

Reply 6

I've been accepted and refused with an expired passport. It's all down to bouncer discretion. I've been let in with college ID before, and once I said I had no ID and I was let in anyway.

Reply 7

What's the purpose?

I did it (accidentally) with Natwest and they asked for new ID as they can't accept expired ones.

Reply 8

Depends what sort of mood the door staff are in ive known them turn people away.

Reply 9

I use my old one as an ID its fine for pubs and clubs even with the cut corner. But mine doesn't work as anything official like for cinemas, trains etc.

Reply 10

dont listen to anyone who says it wont, bouncers arent that gay! course it would work xx

Reply 11

I used mine in huddersfield for ages, before i got a provisonal license, but then as soon as I got back to derby, bouncers wouldn't accept it.

Reply 12

Aw no! Lol I don't intend to use it for anything official just for going out.

It should be fine then :yep:

Only time i used an expired passport, before my provisional came, it got rejected - which messed up my birthday plans a bit.

Tbh though, the photo was a bit old and the person was a bit grouchy and clearly didn't want to serve a load of borderline 18 year olds unless they had to. It's probably the sort of situation where sometimes it'll work and sometimes not - just don't rely on it.

Reply 15

Some places will accept it, some won't

Reply 16

Where i live, the bouncers won't accept it if its a picture of a young child as that could be anyone tbf, but occasionally they do ask if you have a bank card with your name on, so they can check that it is yours.

Reply 17

Try it and if they say its not valid then make the following point.

"I am still the same person"

I used that exact line a couple of times when I took an expired passport out on a friday because i couldn't find my drivers license, it worked both times.

Both times with the person who's name was on the passport...

Reply 19

Officially it's not valid because it's out of date, etc. Unofficially, depends on who's looking at it.

Arguing that "I'm still the same person" means nothing, because the photo could've been changed, etc.
