Radiography @ Cardiff or Exeter? Please help!!

Hi im new here, been accepted at Exeter and Cardiff and now cannot decide! Loved Exeter when i went but i've heard its very expensive to live in. Cardiff was nice too and has a great reputation for radiography. Is there any current radiography students online here that can offer any insight into either uni?

Please help i need to make a decision within the next couple of days! Ive done so much research that i have so many conflicting ideas....apparently exeter is full of sloanes and everything is very expensive i.e societies etc...whats the nightlife like in exeter? cardiff? living costs? additional costs? atmosphere? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.....

best of luck to everyone on here

I am completely biased because I'm going to Exeter in Oct and think its the best - but I think its definately not full of sloanes - there is a massive variety of people there and you will always be able to find people that you want to hang out with unless you're completely socially inept!
Yes Exeter is expensive, but I would have thought Cardiff would be quite similar price wise?

I would say that Exeter is seen generally as a better university but you should choose whichever one has the better course.

Exeter nightlife is pretty good - not a huge amount of clubs to go to but enough and if you have a good group of friends you cna make anywhere really good fun. Also Exeter has really nice shops!

Im a nursing student at Cardiff and Im orginally from Exeter.
I can't really go that much into the course, but i do live with some radiography students at Cardiff and they love their course, hard work, but a very good course.
The only thing i'd say about Exeter, is that they dont have a med school, or a nursing school, and the hospital is quite a small one, where as at cardiff you train at the biggest hospital in Wales.

I love exeter as a city, but i cant imagion going to uni there, the uni is a fair walk from the centre of town and there is only about 3 clubs.
but Cardiff is said to be one of the best nights out in britian, it also has the second biggest union in the whole of the UK. (it is a really good nght out)
Exeter and Cardiff are very different. Exeter does attract the sloanes, its fact, and the halls are very nice, but much more expensive than cardiff.

Basically i love Exeter as my home because its small and cosy, and cardiff is amazing for uni, im completely happy here.

I had the same dilemma!

Personally I chose Exeter because I completley loved the Uni and it had everything I wanted! However, the course at Cardiff does look seriously good!

At the end of the day, do exactly what you want!!

It doesn't really matter how good the uni is generally for radiography, so don't let that sway you. Employers won't be impressed that you went to one uni over another in a league table sense, however they might think better of some institutions for radiography than others, and this depends too on the quality of the education you get when you're based in the hospitals for clinical.

One thing that did put me off Exeter (when I was looking at diagnostics) was the fact it was based in a physics department, NOT a healthcare one. I'd also heard that their employment rate for radiography wasn't so hot, but that's getting more true everywhere as there aren't so many jobs around now.

Most of the time for radiography you'll be moving about between hospitals too - I know at Cardiff, I was looking at doing the therapeutic radiography there, and one of the placements you HAD to do was off out in North Wales...

I guess what I'm saying is, don't just look at the unis and the nightlife there etc. You will be spending half of your time working full time hours in a hospital somewhere, so make sure that suits you, too.
