why is it good for you? why should we drink it?has nothing in it! al juices etc have water in it and they taste nicer, so why should we drink 8 glases water a day, not eg robinsons barley squash?

does anyone here drink 8 glasses per dya?thats alot of drinking!!! will take ages! is it needed?

if water was that essential for us to drink, we would hink it tasted nice.

it doesn't have any calories,

well ok ok. not necessarily orange juice. how about sugar free orange flavoured squash?or cranvberry juice? or sugar free lemonade? or eat juicy foods? all these things contain water, in addition to good vitamins etc, so why drink water? is boring tasting.

If you get 20 bottles of water and put something that tastes of s**t in onee then mix up all the bottles and then drink them one by one it probably won't taste as boring. It will taste like relief.

When they say "drink 8 glasses of water a day" they don't mean you actually have to have 8 glasses of water - just the equivalent of 8 glasses a day, therefore a glass of diluted orange juice would count towards your 8 glasses!

Also...though things like pure orange juice may have vitamins and stuff in it, I don't think you quite understand that the human body is something like 75% water (maybe more, can't remember?) - and the main building block for us as humans is WATER - therefore it keeps us healthy if we drink it regularly!

It's really quite simple. Humans need water, therefore they recommend that we drink it. Duh

Our bodies are mostly made of water, that's why you drink it, to keep all your organs functioning properly. If you drank 8 glasses of something full of sugar/calories everyday you wouldn't been doing yourself any favours. You need water to keep your skin healthy and digestion system, etc. It also aids concentration and prevents headaches since when you become dehydrated your brain starts to shrink.

I drink pints of the stuff a day. Literally. Its pretty much all I ever drink.
Yeah water's great. But I was in India and I tasted heaven - guava juice, my god, absolutely amazing. But water's healthy blah de blah so I drink that mainly.

Calorie is a unit of energy. It is the amount of heat required to raise 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade.

In living things, enery is released from food but the metabolism of the food by enzymes. Water cannot be metabolised, so it doesn't release any energy, and therefore has "no calories".
