Again; Cheap, and very effective for what you get.

Witch Hazel. It's a skin astringement, and benzoyl peroxide can be expensive depending where buy it, and it's effectiveness is arguable, again.

I would say, go to your doctor and get it for free if you can on prescription. Doctors are very generous that way, but i am unsure of the medical proceedures in other countries. I know in America, health care is something you need to save up for. I am unsure as to whether you can get it for free, but there is no harm in asking the doctor. I've done it many time, but not for spots.:yep:

Its not too bad; only about £3-4 at Boots.

it is highly unlikely that you will get benozyl peroxide on prescription in the UK. my doctor told me to buy it, so unless your acne is really bad (and it would have to be awful for a doctor to think it was bad) you'll probably have to buy it yourself.

sorry about the long link, lol, but that is what panoxyl looks like. if you use something stonger like panoxyl or witch hazel, you're more likely to get rid of the bacteria and deter the spot from coming back. although sudocrem may work, it's more of a quick fix and may not help get rid of your acne in the long run (remember sudocrem is made for babies, therefore the antiseptic ingredients in it may not be that concentrated). for improving your acne in the long run, it may be better to use something that it made specifically for acne problems.

Which do you think is better: aqua-gel or cream?

For what? Is that the price of benozyl peroxide, because witch hazel (and you get a substantial amount) for about the same price.

the gel and cream are effective as each other, it's personal preference, like i said the gel seems to rub in easier. regardless of whether you try panoxyl or witch hazel (they both essentially dry the spot out - so they do the same thing really), just make sure you read the labels (and dilute it if you use witch hazel).

I know you did not qoute me, but my answer would be the gel. Gel is able to ''bind the cells'' together enough that dirt cannot enter and cause the infectious cells to produce spots themselves. Cream would be more subtle, as it would also yield a greasiness effect, which i said in another thread, is a perfect breading ground for spots.

also, you do not need a lot of the panoxyl - a little can go a long way. in the year i've been using it, i've only just started my third tube.

Yeah for Panoxyl. Tink12 said its around that price.

And witch hazel is complicated. I swear you have to do some extra stuff before using it.

Only dilution into a soft applicationary subject, such as cotton or a tissue. Not that hard.

So do I just apply the gel on the spots themselves or around the area affected?
Reply 53
with the witch hazel, you can either buy pure witch hazel and dilute it (which is the best way imo) or you can buy cleansers and creams with witch hazel in them (but they are almost too diluted, lol)

Not at all.In fact, using the gell, you would have felt an astringement of the face, so yes, you would have felt it's properties.:yep:

around the area affected, once a day. morning before make-up or at night. at night is probably best because your skin can absorb more and repair itself more during the night.

pppplllleeeeaaasssseee qoute me in the future if that was to me or someone else

Apply the said gel on and around the infected area. This will prevent spreading, and it will also localize the effectiveness.

Boots do a Witch Hazel gel which is great. Put it on at night and it will clear up spots and oily skin in no time.
