hey, ive applied to go to uclan and leeds met and got an unconditional offer from both for an international Travel Managment course, ive been to see both citys and i think their both great! i really cant decide!! im scared preston is going to be too quite with not much night life and clubs and much to offer as leeds, is this the case? xx xx

Obviously its not got as much as Leeds, but there's still some really good places to suit everyone.

Preston has now has re-opened the biggest gay friendly venue,
great music, great atmosphere, its good to go some where, where you feel safe and at home,

I am starting a 4 year degree at uclan this september and I have a few mates who are already studying there, from what I have experienced the nightlife is pretty good, I've been out in manchester and lancaster and places like that and they are all different, I think Lancaster is too small and Manchester is too big, Preston is just in the middle, geographically and size wise, so you can always go to manchester for a mad night out or lancaster for a bit of a change, in general though the clubs and pubs in preston seem pretty good, plenty to do and a good variety, I do not have much experience with the restaurant scene there but judging bu the rest it will be more than good enough, I plan to spend the next 4 years enjoying the nightlife there and can't imagine it will be boring.

hey I'm going to be studying English Lit in september (confirmed offer woo hoo) and me and a couple friends who've also got a conditional offer are going up for a weekend in july for a night out in preston. only problem is one of us is still going to be seventeen, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how strict they are with ID, is it a case of if you look old enough you get in or will she have no chance?

Not worth trying really pal. There are a few pubs that might serve you, but none of the clubs will let you in. We used to borrow older mates IDs to go out.

I'm also considering UCLAN, I'm not that sure about the nightlife itself but it isn't that far away from other cities. Manchester is only around a 45 minute drive which isn't too bad!

I lived in Preston for 18 years and then moved to York for uni. Night life in Preston is fantastic. It is really cheap and there are lots of clubs/really cheap pubs to chose from (Thursday at Ships and Giggles £1 bombs (12 for £10), £1 Sambuca, £1 bottles, £1 bottles, £2 cans) and always £1 house shots. Takeaways are always around and are also really cheap. In preston there is a club open till 6am(!!!!!) on Thursdays and Saturdays, and when I told this to people in London, they couldn't believe it at all.
