A2 Design Technology: Product Design - Revision Help Thread

Hi, I noticed that there's not a lot of threads for Design Tech revision help, so I decided to start one.

I decided to make this thread so people doing Design Tech can share resources such as Past Papers, Pre-Release Materials, Books, Revision Websites etc.

Heres some useful links:
Design Theme for the OCR Paper this June. Revise the themes, you need to know them: http://www.ocr.org.uk/Data/publications/prerelease_materials/L_A_Level_DT_SCT_Product_Design_PRM_Unit_2524_02_Design_Theme_Jun_2009.pdf
OCR Past Papers, for revision: http://www.ocr.org.uk/qualifications/as_alevelgce/design_and_technology_product_design/documents.html#Mark_schemes_2008

Oh and here's a useful book, I revised using this quite a lot for the AS Exam and got 85/90 so I hope it does you well too. Don't know how much it will help with the A Level Exam though: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Level-Product-Design-Student-Book/dp/0748786740/ref=sr_1_2/277-7871322-1860269?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1240854265&sr=8-2

In June I'm taking the OCR Product Design Exam paper, As far as I know the AQA is similar.

Anyway, my problem is that I am absolute awful at the drawing section of the paper, Not that I'm bad at drawing it's just that I don't know how to get the marks even with mark scheme.
Also I'm looking for any help at all: Revision websites, books, cards, videos, audio, tips. Anything will help (I really wanna get an A for this exam, although coursework will probably drag me down)

Anyway thanks, for any revision help guys

Good thread idea, and whats the general pages like in the book you linked to? Like pictures and colours or just plain and writing?

And for the drawing sections you get marks for putting your point across rather than the drawing.

Got the AS retest (got 3 marks off an A in my coursework, which gave me 3 marks off a B overall ), and then the A2. Aiming for an A/B

they are hard situation topics. public speaking and kichen accessories seem the best options.

Is anyone else doing AQA PD6D this Friday?

So far, after I re-took my AS exams, I have an A overall.. but this exam is 3 (!!) hours long, and its pretty hard to revise for. Does anyone have any useful links that could help? It also doesnt help that i have my hardest maths exam (C4) on the same day :frown:

Ive found this one pretty good:

http://www.technologystudent.com/

The questions on it are mainly GCSE questions, but the information is better than my teacher at school could do..

With the specification on part B, make sure you make the point then give a full justification, this is what will make sure you get the marks!

I have a 2 1/2 hour english exam on the same day...eurghhh

My teacher is absoutley useless, im on a C but i got an A in the product study and a B in the major design make, so im hoping to get a B overall.
We spent the entire year doing the above, and all he told us to do was read the book through, which is not effective at all tbh, but i understand alot of it quite well and it has really helped. So ye, go through the text book if you want a "good" read: :L and look at the mark schemes for the past papers, and maybe have ago, thata about all you can do!

I'm doing the OCR one, but i'm a bit confused with the section B part, do they pick one of the cases out of the 5 or do you get to pick one?

Did anyone do PD6D on friday? If so how did you find it?
the OCR and AQA exams seem completely different to edexcel which i do...

our A2 exam is mainly about manufacturing economics, like manufacturing cells, advertising and shizzle

yours seems to be all about drawing and designing, which was what ouir coursework and AS exam was about

good luck all
