Do you eat cereal for health reasons or taste?

All these adverts claim their cereal is healthy. I wondered whether people actually have cereal for health reasons because many that I have heard of who do end up stuffing their face with plastic looking food at McDonalds at lunch time.

So does anyone here have cereal for health reasons (whole or in part) or is it just for the taste? If so what do you have?

I used to have Shredded Wheat but now am on Kellogg's All-Bran (as I need a high fibre diet). Years ago I used to have musli as it was filling but that was seen as uncool as I found out in a foreign languages class once, yet half of those who advocated this view ate kiddy's stuff like Coco Pops (which looks like Rabbit's excretement) and Snap, Crackle and Pop.

I eat fruit and fibre. It's tasty. I eat it because I enjoy it, heck I like just plain bran flakes. Who cares what other people eat anyway? Half the kids cereals are so packed full of sugar it's no wonder kids are so hyperactive these days.

I hear that the US version of cheerios are all different colours, like green and blue...I wonder if they have a similar effect to the dreaded Blue Smarties?

I love cereal so much. So tasty, and healthy. I eat it for both. Of course I can get tired of it, so sometimes I have toast with spread on with some coffee, but generally cereal. And it's soooo easy to prepare too!

Exactly. And some of those people I've seen about 7 years on from eating those cereals aren't exactly thin. Guess too many people do what is trendy at 14 years of age.

The thing is with some musli they can be great and some not so great. Get musli with some decent amount of fruit in it and/or add some of your own from health shops etc. I did used to add pitted dates to my cereal, must do that again.

cheery whole grain cheerios, cheery oh so good to eat!

I eat cereal for the taste, but I'm greedy so I don't buy it too often. Although I have been eating weetabix recently and it's very nice, and sounds healthy too.

I don't eat cereal at all because I think it's horrible! :frown:

I eat fruit and fibre, weetabix and shredded weat depending on what I fancy, fruit and fibre is amazingly tasty!

I must give fruit and fibre a try, there's already quite a few good comments about it. I usually have a high fibre cereal during the week and weekends I usually have something different like Jordans' cereal. Anybody else do this?

At the moment if I have cereal then it's Special K with apricot and peach - it's lovely! But then I don't always eat breakfast cause I'm naughty :p:

because i know i should but deep down i hates it... nasty trixie raisin wheats

seriously it does taste rough in the morning, if i can be bothered to get it when im out i get croissants or pain au chocolat. Toast is good also, i think it must be a psychological thing because if ive been up for a few hours i like ceral.
