Does this happen to anyone else? (Chest pain)

I know I should probably ask a doctor about this but they never take me seriously when I go complaining about something...

For the past 2 days I've had these random chest pains at least 2-3 times a day; it will come suddenly, usually when I'm up and doing something or just walking. It's a very quick and sharp pain THROUGH my chest that feels as if someone is stabbing me with a crooked knife. It has happened before but it's usually VERY rare, once every 2 months or something. I'm 22 and healthy as far as I know. I eat healthy stuff and am not obese so I'm really hoping that my heart is not giving up on me :p: . I thought it could be some back muscle as they feel quite sore and I've been walking around without a jacket when it was pretty cold and windy outside.

Anyway, does this happen to anyone else? Should I start panicking? It happened once today (day 3) and it hardly hurt at all. Also today I've been inside all day so that's what made me think it could actually be my back and from the cold? I don't know :frown: it feels as if it's my heart though but I know it could be other things.

I get it sometimes if I sleep too much - have you got a bit of bony thing in the middle of your chest that you can click? I do and the pains always comes there, its either because I sleep too much or have lied on the sofa for far too long. Otherwise get it checked, I just live with it lol or should I make a visit to the doctor too lol

Oh my gosh, I had that ALL the time last year! I went to a GP about it and they referred me to the hospital for checks, but they couldn't find anything. It might be that PCS thing! Although have you noticed it linked to any parts of your lifestyle? I noticed my chest pains were more frequent if I drank coffee that day... I stopped drinking coffee and the pains stopped (: I still get them occasionally, but not as bad as I used to.

Yea I occasionally get something like this... when I get the horrible stabbing pain it makes my chest feel really tight like I cant breathe, but I just go and lie down for 10 minutes and then it just goes away..
Its so weird, only happens to me once every 6 months or so though so cant be anything too serious!

Okay I feel a bit better now knowing that it happens to others. Well it's very brief it's just a sudden stab and it's gone but boy does it make an impression. Interesting that coffee was mentioned, I drank a LOT of coffee 3 days ago when I had to stay up all night and write an essay.. I don't drink it often but usually I'm fine, the worst that can happen is it gives me some mild anxiety but that's it.

i-Citizen, there is nothing clicky in my chest lol.

Oh and I looked the PCS thing but it's not like that really, it's just a stab and it's gone..

I get heartburn a lot particularly if I have a curry and drink 12 pints. It's a mystery op.

You may have a minor heart palpitation, or arythmia it may be heartburn, with symptoms like that though it's more likely any of the above. ^

I use to get PCS a lot as well. I seem to have grown out of it though.

If you get shooting pains up and down your left arm, nausea or feelings that someone is standing on your chest. Then I'd worry. Otherwise the Drs are probably right. You may also have anxiety attacks because of the pain. Which will merely make the pain seem much worse than it is.

Omg this is what I have. I thought it was just me cos I went to my doctor n she basically thought i was a bit of an idiot n told me there was nothing wrong, so I felt like I'd wasted her time. But I've had this for at least 4 years (I'm 19) and it comes and goes - could be hours/days/months at a time. Nice to know I'm not the only one who was freaking out a bit. I find it gets worse when I'm stressed though.....

Yeah I get it too. The reason you're getting it more often is because you're thinking about it and worrying. Anxiety is the cause of most chest pains. Though if you're getting numb arms, you have a problem lol.
