Sociology degree without A level

Hello kids!
I'm new and I'm a bit worried about my sociology degree im starting at Leicester uni in October.
When i went on my open day everyone except me had done sociology at A Level and now I'm scared I'll be the loser in the class who knows nothing and is shunned to the corner of the room!
Is anyone in my situation? Or just wants to lie to make me feel better?
*weep*
Sociology A-level isn't exactly complex or 'deep' (lol), so don't worry. I've heard degree level sociology is much more difficult, and different too.

Chill  I doubt they'll ALL have A-level socio anyway!

sociology A level is easy to understand- im doing this year on my gap year for fun and teaching myself it. If you want to you can get some simple revision books which condense the A level course.

You'll be grand and good luck with uni!

Hiya!
I'm a second year sociology student at york and when I started I was one of the only ones in my classes to have actually done a socioloy a level! In a way I think it's better not to have done it at a level because you're a blank canvas and don't tend to keep reverting back to the simplistic stuff they teach you at college, which is not what the unis want you to do. I've pretty much had to wipe the slate clean, sure a level sociology basics are good ie key theories such as durkheim, marx, weber and the sort but literally you will get taught these in your first term. My entire first year was basically a more complex version of a level sociol, most unis don't expect you to have done it and so spend pretty much most of the first year introducing you, which is good for you and a revision for people who have.
Hope that helps and good luck!

hey it really doesnt matter, don't worry.
i'd never done it before, and actually ended up doing 6 sociology modules this year (degree is actually geography at sheffield lol) - it doesnt require any prior knowledge, esp if you've got a history of social sciences/humanities. couple of mine this year have actually been basically geography with a slighty different twist.and you don't need to bother with doing reading for it , i decided in freshers week on my modules (although some were changed later), i didnt have time to read up on it! ithought that in some places they actually don't like you having a level sociology, cos they do it differently (kind of like they are with law), so that way ur actually in a better position than them!
