You can get into an optometry course and pass the year brilliantly, but the main problem is your pre-reg year. Firstly it's really hard to find places and it's best to start looking for somewhere at least a year/2 years in advance. Then there's the exams (maybe about 10?) and it's a low number of people that get through.
Cardiff and Bradford and APU are probably the best universities for the courses. APU has stolen all the teachers from the other places (therefore it's good!) and Bradford is very good in general. All the optoms my sister knows went there or Glasgow. Cardiff is good for the social life, and is good to have as insurance.
