Most swimming pools do lots of adult swimming classes for beginers and to improve...If you can't swim and try to on your own you will probably panic and swallow lots of water!!

Reply 5

i think i can swim  lol last time i went swimming was probably about 10 years ago

Reply 6

take lessons if you want to, there's nothing to be embarrassed about, they aren't exactly going to put you in a class with tiny tots :p:

I don't like all the screaming children... And I don't have much time at the moment. Hmmm... I'm going during study leave, I've decided! Ugh, I've got the smell of chlorine in my nose, and the feeling of diving in to freezing water and really wishing you hadn't. Oh the memories... *realises how sad that sounds*

If I go again I shall go to the adult only sessions..although that means the fun pool isn't open and that means no slide!!

Like learning to cook, it should be compulsory. You should learn it until you can do it.

However, it's never to late to learn. I swim 3 miles a week at a club, and the club offfers one-to-one lessons to members and non-members. Phone round your local and private clubs and gyms and find out. When you meet someone rich and they invite you out onto their yacht, you don't want to have to admit you can't swim...

I love swimming, it's the most relaxing sport to do I think - nothing better than when you're p****d off at the world and don't want to speak to anyway getting into the water and swimming off your fustration..

I'm a water baby though - I could swim before I could walk lol. Plus I'm a lifeguard, so liking the water helps

Agree with everyone else that's said it - it's never too late to learn, if you want to learn to swim, then go ahead and do it  have you seen Will Young's video for Friday's Child? lol he went on to swim the channel in that! lol. It's nout to be ashamed of, go for it

Ooh I love swimming. I learnt when I was little, I think it's the best time to learn, while your not scared of things!
I not been swimming in a while though - but when I go on holiday I'm always in the pool I love it.

i coach kids swimming so i have to be in the freezing cold water for 3 hours at a time whilst continuing to smile and be friendly (their parents can watch fromn the viewing gallery :p: ) After my swimming the chlorine doesnt fully go away for about 2 or 3 days, despite numerous showers. Lucky the pool is chloriney because the other day a kid puked all over me and left puke all over the bottom of the pool and the water went misty. Also kids like to sh*t in the pool sometimes. That can be annoying as it can be when a kid SNEEZES INTO YOUR MOUTH. I dont like that either

oh, the kids are so sweet tho and its quite a rewarding job. Also, I love swimming

ps. what happened to chilpops swimming problem ? :p:

just go in the middle of the pool/deep end with someone that CAN swim. then the random thrashing around you do will suddenly keep you afloat, hence u r swimming. this is how i learned all alone. however i cant swim very fast :frown:

OMG you have to learn to swim - its fantastic!!! I learntwhen I was ickle, and train 4 nights a week. I've also just read in a magazine, that there is this new underwater MP3 player that you can wear round your hat, and listen to music whilst swimming which is pretty cool!!

#Apparently (like most things) its harder to learn the older you get, because it can be daunting and scary but it totally rocks!!
