KS3 papers are posted out between 27th June and 3rd July so I assume the KS2 ones go out a
week later.

Not yet. I'm sure last year we'd had them back before now. I'm wondering if there's a problem with
the Maths and Science papers in particular. Do you remember the question in Science about what you
can do as an adult which you can't do as a child? How ambiguous was *that*??

Perhaps also, there are difficulties in setting the Level 3-4 and 4-5 cut-off points? rosie

No, they're still busy fiddling the thresholds.

I believe the "official" dates for return are 3rd to 9th July. The level thresholds for 2002 are at

I have it on very good authority that the KS3 6-8 tier level threshold for level 8 will plummet this
year from its usual 110ish to around 90. Can't have the numbers of level 8's going down from one
year to the next can we!

Heheheh....they have to decide whether or not to discredit Labour. That's probably the holdup -
they're fighting over the cut-off points - Labour v. Tory
v. Lib-Dem....? <evil grin>

My boyfriends' dad marks KS2 maths papers - he hasn't had to send them back yet, last week he was
still waiting for thresholds for levels, I think he is sending them back this week.

KS3 science papers in last Thursday.

boundaries for KS3 M and E essentially the same tougher this year for Science - how odd, after last
year's surprisng increase in science national figures

Bad form to reply to your own post but:

KS3 maths tier 6-8 2002 level 8: 94+

KS3 maths tier 6-8 2001 level 8: 107+

so a reduction of 13 marks or almost 10%!!!

I looked in at the KS2 ones. They're only a mark or two off from last year, but on the EASIER side
of it. Wonder why....

Our results were AMAZING !!!!! and this was from a really poor vintage. Quite honestly, from a group
of forty, there was only one child who really looked like a certain level 5 (English) (KS2). We got
19 !!!! Best our school has ever had in the past was about 7 level 5 Quite honestly.....we thought
we'd crack the champagne.....but there's a nasty whiff here. Anybody else get strange results? Phil

My niece [KS2] reported similar results in English. She said that some of her class mates
expected levels 3/4 and got a level 5. Claimed also that the papers were "much easier" this year
than previous.

But they are not answering the same questions so I don't think your point is valid on the basis of
marks alone.

The test should be consistent year on year, after all they are covering the same levels.

I guess that since you have had your KS2 tests back, we should have had back our Yr 7 Progress test
(since they are the same thing!), but we haven't - anyone know when these are due back? The exams
officer doesn't know!
