Seeing as i would not participate in further study of economics beyond a basic university level degree i was wondering something.

Is industrial economics (code L1N2) of any value compared to economics?

If i desire to work in finance, banking, insurance, management would people prefer economics?

Does it really matter that much?

Thanks

I would imagine that it would make very little, if any, difference.

Industrial Economics is a more specialised aspect of economics and as such is not available at many places (however Business Economics is basically the same thing and that is done at many places). Economics is a broader course and better if you wanted to get an all round coverage of the course from an academic perspective/if you wanted to do a post grad in econ. But as you don't wanna do that, I think Industrial Economics is great  and possibly even better than a straight econ course for work in the financial services because it focuses on the more microeconomic/firm related issues that are more relevant to the business world.

Ind Economics is L1N2 but from what i see different university calls L1N2 or LN12 or even L112 different names such as Business Economics, Economics and Mangament e.t.c. Just to confuse people i bet!

has anybody else got an offer for Ind Eco from either Warwick or Nottingham and if so, did you have Maths at any level beyond GCSE?

Many thanks

I know definitely the course at Nottingham does not require maths past GCSE and is quite tailored towards people who are not mathematically inclined, see: http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/business/ug/L1N2.html

Warwick do alternative modules for people without maths A level. I personally have an AS level in maths.
