I'm registering for accommodation and I need my student ID number. It says it was on the offer letter, but I haven't got a clue where that is anymore. Is it the same 9 digit number as the one on the accommodation letter?
Unless they changed it this year, (which I don't think they have) your student number will be the same as your ucas number, which would be 8 or 9 digits long and starts with the year you're coming to uni in (so 07/08/09 etc).
you should keep important letters you know....i had a mate who turned up on his first day of uni and no one had a clue who he was or anything. Luckily he kept all his acceptance and welcome letters to prove he did actually have a place etc....rather bizzare

Your student number is just your UCAS number.
no it isnt.....
a uni will give you a specific number to which they refer to you as for your duration of study...ur ucas number becomes pretty much void as soon as you start your degree.
My student number is my ucas number so I will have it for the duration of my course. Why create a new number when everyone has already got individual numbers to identify them!

Yeah. It would be void if Leicester didn't adopt it as the Student number... but they do.
well it looks to me like current students' student numbers are the same as their ucas numbers and maybe for forthcoming freshers they are getting a different one.
