A Level Physics Practicals -- Cheating

I do physics normally, in school with the class, i got an ok 30/40 for my physics practical raw mark, compared to the rest of the class, with around 20to30 out of 40 ... we worked hard and spent time doing and learning all about practical and we all were good enough to take physics because we worked hard to get A/A* in science gcse

one guy who didn't work hard and didn't deserve physics a level resorted to taking it externally at a college whilst still in the same school as me, but taking 3 subjects in school and physics out of school
he asked us what board we are doing, so he chose the same

he is on his own with a tutor and his tutor just gave him 40/40 in his practical... there is no way he would have done it himself because he is quite thick... and during test day this june, its just him in the room with the teacher invigilating... who knows what could happen, although cheating for the real exam is less likely

its annoying because people like this getting good marks becaue their teacher just awards them it on the practical and told him what to write, they push up our grade boundaries and they dont deserve the A/B grade, not sure what else to say...

cheating...

I dunno, he might've done really well, I think it's a bit ignorant you saying "there is no way he would have done it himself because he is quite thick"
even if it's true
1) it's none of your buisness
2) aren't you a slight bit jealous?

Surely he has to actually sit the paper for the practical, and cannot just be awarded the 40/40 for doing nothing.

Regardless of this, you should report him to the exam board really, probably more hassle than it is worth though really.

I agree, it is not fair.

Why should we work hard to get A's when he gets it for doing nothing:s-smilie:

What exam board is this by the way?

Let him off man. If he is as thick as you say he is, just give him the 20% anyway.

no jealousy involved, because i know that if he is left on his own in the actual exam next week he wont do very well... and i know he didn't do it himself because he didn't know the first thing about practicals and he said to his friend that the teacher just told him what to write down because they did the practical in the room alone

Physics OCR A

its true, we worked for about 4-5 weeks on practicals and perfecting it and in the exam we were left to do it ourself
and someone pays to take it externally... basically pays for the marks!

im not bothered about reporting him, i dont care, dont have the time and he'll probably flop the G482 exam next week anyway, as long as he's not helped
Yeah i know what you mean, i do all the sciences and i havnt seen much correlation between brains+hardwork and good grades; if anything its a negative correlation.
Exams on the otherhand show a clear positive correlation.

Oh well.
