Double. Single quotation marks, or apostrophes (sp?) are for stuff like can't, it's, or johnny's.

There is no rule, as far as I've been told. As long as you're consistent, either single or double quotation marks are acceptable (I personally find single quotation marks more aesthetically pleasing for some reason and I've never been questioned on it by any of my tutors). However, it may be better to put double quotation marks to be on the safe side, as you may want to indicate something is in inverted commas rather than quotation marks.

Check with your tutor if you're worried about it, but it's hardly grounds for any marks to be taken off in any case!

yea id say that inverted commas would suggest sarcasm to a computer... any reasonable person would dissmiss it.

"" = quotations

'' = sarcasm (e.g. he is so 'happy'), using a colloquial word to make a point but strictly isn't appropriate (e.g. the constitutional law is made up of a 'soup' of different legal sources) and possessive.

Hi hun,

Thanks for that and I'm very much at the library - am studying to become a librarian :smile: :biggrin:

So I can help students like you guys on a regular basis.

I just need to complete another four modules then I'm done. As I'm part-time, this means I finish half-way through next year.

I will send you a PM when I'm closer to finishing the abstract of my assignment, have missed all the oldies on here so much!

I know, me too!

I seriously thought it was just me, and I was crazy for some time there :p:

Oh also, do you find that when you write assignments, you leave two spaces between sentences, instead of one? I can never leave one :o:
