Ah, but the law's about to change - in October I think - to allow pubs to serve alchohol round the clock. Hopefully the colleges won't take the view that extended bar hours could possibly cause people to neglect their studies.

Ah, we lost the surname. Noone at his factory was prepared to call my grandfather david erskowitz - to hard to pronounce - so he became david davis. And authentic jewish chicken soup with kneidlach... mmm. Would be a pleasure.

My dad's side of the family is of Eastern-European (Jewish) extraction. Unfortunately, my dad can't cook and my mum's from Glasgow so we never get any of the food! But I have sampled kneidlach and it was soooo good - can I joing your little meal? I'm currently on a real baking push - I've always made scones obsessively but I'm starting to diversify. Yesterday I made bagels, tonight crumpets, tomorrow english muffins. I am having serious thoughts about entering into the world of baking after I graduate

Hey! I'm part Polish-Jewish! My family seem to appear from nowhere in Poland in about 1900 - no one knows where they came from before that (possibly Iraq, which is interesting. Well, to me), or why they went to Poland. As for culture, apart from pickled gherkins and sauerkraut, it seems to have been largely lost in my family...
We go to some Polish friends for Christmas and the food is yummy!

The more the merrier - if i'm going to be making a proper jewish soup, might as well make it for a few of us. All my traditional cooking comes from my grandmother.

Coolness.
I would probably, if I were to get in, try to make people love me by cooking, 'cause I'm pretty good myself (Italian, Chinese, Indian, French/contemporary, pastries  and puddings)

would be a nightmare - would have to scum with two hands. nononononono - it just wouldn't work, my arm would fall off :p:

But luckily I can make enough kneidlach in one batch to last me and 4 people who don't like kneidlach through one meal. About 50 at a time...
well you could teach people to help you  sous chefs and all that...you could say **** a lot and be the Jewish Ramsay :p:

Actually, with chicken soup nothing really does. It's more about patience and experience.

And adding the right spices.
