Verrucas. What to do?

Hey, I've had verrucas since I can remember on my feet, 3 in whole. When I was little I had freezing treatement and stuff but they never did fully go away and now they are causing me annoyance because whenever I sleep over at someones for the night I feel I can't take my socks off, it is embarressing. Is there a way of booking in for your local hospital/healthcare centre for the freezing treatement without having to go and spend valuable time for your GP?
Will they take them off or just say they are not costeffective to get rid of?

if it's bothering you then your GP should help. I can't imagine that the treatment is very expensive.

Yeh, if they are causing you trouble, your GP should be able to refer you to have them frozen off. I think the only way to not go through your GP first is to go private. Have you tried the over -the-counter stuff? x

I'll go see my GP or something after my exams and that'll be cool. No way am I paying for what I can get for free.

No. Go and see a qualified Chiropodist. Yes, you'll have to pay, probably about £20, but it's the only way you'll get rid of them. I can't believe you've had them since you were 3! That looks really bad...just get them sorted out!

I am not paying ****. My sister had them and got a free chiropidist to sugically remove themso we'll see, we'll see.

Good luck with it, hope they go for good. My best mate has had them frozen countless times but they just won't go away :frown: I think he went private as well for some reason

Well, there is a chiropidist in Cupar that my sis was put to and he was good, took him a month then he surgicalised them.
Its all ok

Yeah, it's caused by a virus and your body naturally gets rid of it within about 18 months normally.

sigh. but they can also spread keeping the virus alive.
How long would it take to be refered to someone that could sort it out through your GP?

I actually just picked mine out with my fingernails.

I KNOW it's disgusting and I could have spread it everywhere and yuck, gross, stupid...but I did.

Actually I have to confess that I did this too. I'd had it for ages, and tried the treatment from my Gp which involved ointment and a sharp implement for digging purposes. It never went away, and eventually it grew out onto the dead skin on the ball of my foot. I was a full time dancer at the time and my feet were hard core so I picked it with my fingernails, then cut it off with scissors (it didn't hurt as my feet were very hard) and it was gone. Amazing!

I did that with a few when I was younger. Doesn't seem to have been such a good idea now though. :frown:

mine just went on their own. I did have the nitrogen stuff sprayed on them and then cutting it away and going back a few weeks later but it didnt work.

I'm guilty of self-surgery too... it's quite effective. A metal pair of compasses are quite useful I found as well.
