there are loads of cambridge psychos. there was the white car on west road, the cyclist stabber (who got someone in the road behind corpus!!), oh and the total maniacs who like to drive up tennis court road the wrong way!!!!!

back to the girton incident...has anyone heard what's happened? someone told me what they'd heard, but i dont particularly want to say because i dont wanna be spreading lies (especially icky ones).

And not just cambridge - wasn't there an incident at oxford where two men (students?) kidnapped a student, took him to a quarry and stabbed him for his wallet? Frankly, if it came down to it, i'd take buggery any day..

Two men did abduct and stab a student a number of times, but it was because of an argument about one of the men trying to steal the student's mobile phone, not as part of a robbery. They threw him out of their car on the dual carriageway, apparently. But the student wasn't seriously hurt somehow.
Hey guys, have read through the thread. I live here and you know as much as i do. The college is telling nothing, and everyone's really closed mouth about it. Reema, please don't worry. Everyone here's really shocked, the entire college is in shock. None of us ever expected this to happen in our college and all they're (college authorities) saying is that "the college council will take proper disciplinary actions and that the police investigation is ongoing." Also we've been accosted by journalists from newspapers outside college asking for information on this. It's really odd here at the moment. I'm sorry this has worried you Reema, it's worried us all. All i can say is that i hope the college gets it's act togehter when it knows what happened and kicks everyone responsible out on their asses in the street. Till then, it's gonna be weird here. Oh and Varsity has once again proved what a sterling investigative outfit it is, without (as usual in my view) thinking about the consequences of what they write.

You mean u don't know who the victim and who the suspects are? Is the college really so large? (I don't personally care for names since I know noone, but haven't u heard from others or anything?)

I know a couple of the people involved but the college hasn't said anything. I don't know any of the others. If you hadn't been here at the time you wouldn't know at all because it is all hush hush. And yes the college really is that large, i believe it is somewhere around the 3rd largest in Cambridge.

Thanks Pollo Loco for your reassurance . I think overreacted a little...there's dangers like that everywhere if you think about it logically, but i was just surprised at the extent of it, and of course it had to be at the exact college I chose to go to . But I know from my own experience how friendly the people at Girton are, so I'm still looking forward to going there!

That's good Reema. Cambridge can be quite dangerous, there have been incidents but you don't usually expect it to happen in a college. I think i would've reacted the same way to that sort of thing at the place i was going to live at. I'm glad you're still looking forward to coming here.

TBH I thought the same. I am very annoyed with Pol as he turned up at my room with two friends at 12:30 the other night. Luckily I was still awake otherwise he would have incurred my rather formidable wrath. He's degraded now though so I guess we won't be hearing from him til next year.

Charlotta can be happy to pee in bushes at other times, but just didn't fancy it this time and believed that Wolfie was just too much of a mission from the UL.. I did bounce up and down at your window to check you were up.. For all your scary words, you were very nice and polite and unusually helpful and cheery.. What were you on..?

Having heard the last of me..? Don't go betting on it, Jacob my dear chap..!

Has everything calmed down about that now Dan..? I remember coming back from Wolfie with Isabel (thanks to my nighttime ban from college) that morning and a couple of rooms were blocked off and that room had a police guard who also wouldn't say much when we tried to chat to her. Then Ciarán came and said even less than the police woman.. Quite scary to think that stuff would really happen on our corridor. Could have equally well been any of us, assuming it was all true. Not good at all..

Yeah, it's all calm here now. Still haven't heard anything else and i think the tabloids have lost interest now.

No don't think so, one of the people involved was from my corridor. In any case i wasn't on my corridor at the time.

People in Girton know. Those outside don't know your corridor from a random pub in Girton village. All bouncy though..

Busily away on the other side of college again..

Is it really bad that when I hear about a sexual assault in Girton the first thing I think about is whether Pol was involved.

Though, from their ages, he surprisingly wasn't!

A.

That's quite unfair of you man.. To be honest, joking or otherwise, I have no idea what would make you say that. Asking anyone in Girton who knows me, whilst they may not all like me I doubt anyone would accuse me of being up for sexually assaulting anyone. Let alone a guy. :frown:

IMO the whole varsity article was highly irresponsible. it seems to have been put together with very little concrete evidence, since no-one involved has talked about it, or is even allowed to. Now Girton gets all this bad publicity whether or not the the police investigation and/or trial concludes that these guys actually commited an assault.

'Twas in jest, I mainly said it because I know you're one for drunken antics and that College also seemed to have it in for you. I have no idea if the incident was drunken revelry gone wrong or was properly malicious, but perhaps it was wrong of me to treat it lightly in any case. Of course I don't actually really think you'd be capable of such things in the slightest.
