 thankyou so much that will really help me start off my revision,
As far as the context question goes I made a selection of the main concerns of the Victorian era, then made links between these concerns and the content in the texts I have studied. I then developed on that by writing a few points for each text on how the different writers convey their thoughts and feelings about such concerns through their specific text.

need notes on hardy's neutral tone.could you please send me a copy??
This poem was NOT written after the death of Emma. It was written in 1867. It is not therefore one of the 'Emma' poems.

I am a bit stuck as well but i think that he is reflecting on his past love life and how when he felt bad he saw everything around him as cold and dead. However if he was happy he could have described everything as colourful and full of life.
by the way I'm 12 so if this isn't any help and a waste of time then sorry
