look at the "law tables and university comparisons" thread at the top of the page (it is stickied).

There you will find your answer.

Oh and Warwick BBB? Is that for law!
Reply 2
yup i applied pure law. i guess i must be really lucky!

i got into sheffield as well (BB) but i think i'd rather go to SOAS, warwick and bristol... right?
I'd probably choose Warwick or Bristol personally... although SOAS is excellent at what it does.

But if you do go to SOAS you'll get to be near me
Reply 5
lol may i ask why you'd personally choose warwick or bristol?
Reply 6
I would've said Warwick or Bristol.

But i must say damn! Well done with those offers. I'm trying not to swear here, lol.

Just out of interest are you an international applicant?
Reply 7
SOAS is good if you want a breath of fresh air. Otherwise Warwick.
Reply 8
It's ironic. Someone who is clearly academically (and otherwise) good enough to get offers of ABB from Bristol, BBB from Warwick, and AA from SOAS doesn't even know how good these unis are in relation to each other...

I disagree. As Lotello said, look at the sticky thread in the law forum. Your answer is there - i.e. Bristol, then Warwick, then SOAS.

I don't like the place, and the excessive amount of toffs (and Tories, like your goodself).

i wouldn't say the amount of 'toffs' was excessive, unless you decide to do a degree in classics the spectrum is very much wide! and in 90% of cases, you wouldn't be able to tell who went to a private or state school without asking them anyway.

and as for tories, now i'm a reason not to go to bristol, great (!) hehe
personally, i would say Bristol firm, warwick insurance- all your bases would be covered then

Well done with your offers!

Hmm. Although SOAS is good, I think that with your career direction you might want to opt for either Bristol or Warwick.

Oh, and you may also want to consider uni life. Bristol has more of a city atmosphere, while I get the impression that Warwick is more of a *quiet* campus. (I could be wrong though!)

thank you!
SOAS is ranked #2 in law by the guardian... bristol is #18 and warwick is #10. do these rankings not mean much? it seems like everyone tells me to go to either bristol or warwick. is this because SOAS' reputation is not as good or is it because SOAS is more of an institution where students generally go on to do research/work for the govt.?

and yes I am an international student, but I'm living in london and go to the american school.

I think all three have excellent reputations. I think you should consider exactly what sort of uni environment you want to be living in for three years, as they are all quite different.

League tables are meaningless. Since when did anyone (in the profession) care about the opinions of a bunch of journos?!

Whatever you choose to do after graduation, be it research, solicitor, or barrister, going to either Bristol or Warwick will put you in good stead. SOAS - significantly less so.

In terms of reputation, Bristol has the edge. Some people above have made comments such as "oh, but I prefer Warwick" - bear in mind that this is a subjective value statement, and so don't give it much weight. I assume you're asking for an objective assessment of the reputations of these institutions within the legal profession. So, to reiterate what I've already said: Bristol has the edge, Warwick a little way behind, and SOAS some way behind them both.

The choice ought to come down to Bristol and Warwick, if you are to give the uni's reputation significant weight in making your decision. While Bristol does have the edge, you may prefer Warwick as a uni, and so choose to go there - you would not be at any highly significant detriment in doing this. It's a question of balancing your desires.

However, back to the point of this thread: in terms of reputation, all other things being equal, go for Bristol.
