Test For Hco3-

Hi, im revising for my Unit 3B, i have two different sources one says the test for hydrogencarbonates are :

ADD TO ALMOST BOILING WATER, THEN TEST FOR CO2

The other says add calcium chloride sol (no ppt) then boil, to give white ppt

Both seem right no? Which would i give if they asked me it in the actual exam?

the boiling water one i think - i got full marks on that paper - so hopwfully im right. or i will have proven my theory that when we revise for exams we forget it str8 after - like having a baby - u forget the pain cos of trauma.
