Depends what department you work. I worked at the home department and spent all day tidying up, plumping cushions and arranging/sizing clothes on the shelves.

It sucked.

Basically some sort of shelf stacker. You will be on a department such as frozen foods, fresh foods, grocery, produce, GM.

If it gets busy you'll be asked to work on the tills for a bit as well. Which is extra fun times.

I just got a job as a general assistant at Sainsburys, i will soon have my induction day does anyone know what happens in those? and also what do i do as a general assistant? do i get given a set of things to do or do i have to keep myself busy? please help

Induction is a lot of videos, some group activities, and some 'exams' that my induction trainer just told us the answers to.

It's boring.

I loathe Sainsbury's. Worked there for 3 years, hated life. People were great chat, job wasn't bad, managers made me want to climb inside an oven.

scottish highlands, and no, but TBH they're almost TOO easy so don't be afraid to give 'stupid' answers.

Example:
Q: what must you do before you read a newspaper on your break?
A: pay for it.
