hymenectomy.

hey, im haveing a hymenectomy soon and basicly wanted to know if anyone had had one?
its done under general anasthetic but i want to know how long the operation will take and weather it will hurt after?!
any ideas? :smile:

No, that's female circumcision/genital cutting/genital mutilation.

OP, why are you having it? It is being done on the NHS? I can't imagine it'll hurt afterwards, it's only a hymen.

yep, its being done on the NHS, basicly my hymen won't brake, so i havent been able to use tampons (and ive been on my period for 7years!) also im going to drama school next year so i need to be able to use tampons and haveing sex will be highly problematic etc. i looked up the procedure and it sayss they stich the hymen open? and my gynercoligist said that she thought it woud take a couple of weeks to heal and scab over etc... so i was thinking maybe it will actully hurt!
