English literature poems (pre 1914, duffy armitage) and the writers purpose

Hi, im trying to revise for these and im find it a bit hard to understand the writers purpose.

i would like to know what the writers purpose for some poems are as my teacher told me its important to include it but no revision guide or most of my notes dont have anything on it.

could you write a brief 1-2 line description on some of the poems or some me a website which would help please?

the poems are:

my last duchess
the laboratory

havisham
anee hathaway
before you were mine
salome

mother any distance
homecoming
kid
hitcher

bitesize doesnt have most of them and its got crap notes.

This one you should be able to open.

Notes courtesty of Mr. Shankly - I've simply changed the file extentions to a .doc, as opposed to widnows 2007 extension of .docx .
