If it's a significance of the character question, I use this method:

Character x is significant to the novel because of the role she plays in "helping Scout to understand the prejudices of Maycomb" (Example.) Then go on to a physical description packed full of quotes, and a brief overview of the relationships with each character.

Detailed relationships with each character.

Specific events.

Summarise.
Introduction about the theme and the two stories.

Compare the two stories and how they relate to the theme in different ways. Use many quotes and support them with an explanation.

How the two stories differ and are similar.

Summary. Which story did you enjoy? Did they relate to you?
