how do i do that im 5' 6" tall and i weight 8st

# Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
# Overweight = 25-29.9
# Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

You are 18.1, so you're underweight. I doubt doing this for a day will really harm you though.
Well, your BMI is 18.1, which is underweight but not dangerously so. I don't think there would be a problem doing a 24 hour fast, as long as you eat well for a few days afterwards. Your location is Planet Cake, maybe you should spend more time there if you want to gain a couple of pounds to bring your BMI up a little... not that cake is the healthiest way to do so, but it's surely one of the most delicious.
Talk to your mum about it. I'm sure she has her reasons for not wanting you to do it.

Easiest just to check with a doctor. You should do this before you make major diet changes anyway- I suppose a 24 hour fast falls within that category.
I wish i was underweight. :frown: It'd be soo easy for me to go nuts and gain weight :eek: My BMI is about 24, but I'm quite strong and the calculator here doesn't really take muscle into account.

What's wrong with 24? Last time I measured mine it was 25.5 or something rubbish like that. But I'm going to the gym every day now, so maybe it's better now. Although I too could gain weight so easily if I wanted... it's so unfair :frown:

Well, maybe you could do it on the condition that if you do start to feel faint, you eat something. No charity wants you sacrificing your health for them! And people'll still give you sponsor money; they're giving you money because they want to help charity, not because they want to see you out cold on the floor.

Well, I guess that even if you don't do it, there's loads of other stuff you can do for charity! Aw, you're a sweetheart for wanting to do charity work so much, but if you end up in hospital you'll be doing more bad than good! There's loads of sponsored stuff you can do that'd be safer.

I did a 24 hour fast a few days ago. It was all going well until about 22 hours in, when I started feeling incredibly sick. 15 minutes before the end, I puked all over the place. I have no idea what happened :s-smilie:

If you do it, drink lots of sugary drinks to keep your blood sugar levels up. I was drinking mainly water and I think that's why it had such a nasty effect on me!

thanx for the advice i was plannin on drinking energy drinks and stuff to keep up my blood sugar and milkshake to fill me up a bit

you'll hardly lose any weight for not eating from just one day
you'll probably only be loseing 1000 calories or so cos you'll eat more before you do it and more after as well.

i want to do the 24 hour fast thing to raise money for starving children and stuff but my mum wont let me becuase she is saying i dont weigh enough as it is surely one day isnt gonna make a difference and im not that skinny

Well according to the BMI thingy Johnny Wilkinson is obese so I doubt you're really overweight :rolleyes:

i dont get what you mean
One day really won't hurt you. (Unless you have some kind of medical condition). Just drink lots so you don't pass out from dehydration. You won't really lose (real) weight from not eating for a day anyway. It takes longer to get rid of fat, so don't worry.
