As long as the girls are also into anime and other "geeky" stuff, then yeah, sure why not. You don't have to be "cool" to get on with girls, you just have to get on. And just as there are "geeky" and "cool" guys, lo and behold, there are "geeky" and "cool" girls.

As you can probably tell from the way I have placed the words in quotation marks, I hate labels such as "geek" and "cool" but used them here to illustrate my point.

I dont think its the 'geekyness' itself that puts alot of people off.
However, people who are like that tend to be not as good at social interaction, or not as confident, which is where the reaction, and the stereotype, comes from.

Reply 3

And what Iluvatar said.

Reply 4

You also can't dismiss the possibility that 'geekiness' could be a fatal attraction for others, as it is with myself.

Reply 5

So I suppose that "geeks" bring it on themselves by just not trying hard enough and not being forward enough because their rather seclusive habits mean that they can't talk to girls?

I suppose that makes sense. I guess we grow up or summat. Time was when people were made fun of for liking geeky things and being a "loser".

I remember when I was watching some anime cra p at school a few years back, and some guys came in a smugly said "wahaha, you guys realy need girlfriends".

Guess that doesn't happen anymore.

Reply 6

No, it still does. It's just your perspective on it has changed now.

It depends how you go about the geeky thing. If a guy was obsessed with all that anime crap and spent all his time playing computer games, and only talked about that sort of stuff to me, then I wouldn't be interested. At all. However, if he were capable of normal social interaction and conversation etc, and enjoyed those sorts of things on the side, that's ok. Though anime still freaks me out. A lot.

Reply 7

Geek is cool now!! lol! Go geek chic!!

Reply 8

Man, talking to a girl about stuff she isn't interested in is the most retarded thing to do in the world.

Its like taking your girlfriend to the arcade.

No.

Just no.

(wish I knew a girl who liked playing DDR though...)

Yeah so thats why you don't talk to them about that side of your life unless they enquire! Its pretty simple really.

Reply 10

Unless the girl is interested in things that are important to you, well, she's not much use as a girlfriend, is she?

Reply 11

I like geeks!!

Awwww, all intelligent and shy...

Reply 12

*waves* I like pkaying DDR! And I like anime  and all that great stuff like fantasy fiction roleplaying, sci fi, final fantasy games, and all manners of geekry.

I cant speak for girls everywhere, but I love geeks. They're just incredibly hot. This may be because they share my tastes, but also I love the way they arent all egotistical usually, they are usually intelligent, and they can be shy, all of which are great things. I also love guys in glasses, but not all geeks have glasses I know
They're more likely than normal guys to have long hair, they have wonderful humour, they can fix and explain things about my pc (Im rubbish with tech) and they appreciate girls who arent chavs

Im friends with a lot of geeks, none of them have any trouble getting women. There are less geeky girls to go round, though, so whenever a geeky girl is single she gets pounced on. The guys still find semi-geeks to date though, alternative types, arty peoples, that sort of thing

Really, I think some girls arent going to like that type of guy, and they are going to think they are less macho or something, but when the geeks in my household get competitive, there's plenty of evidence of testosterone, let me tell you! :p:

EDIT: I see from another post you've seen some decent ammount of anime...you even like kenshin! Can I just clone you now and keep a copy?

Agree with what most other people have said. If you and your friend actually get out enough to meet girls, then you're not hardcore geeks. General geekiness, coupled with other less geeky interests, I find rather cute .

Yikes, girls who like anime are hard to find. I'm... I'm... I'm so scared. *runs away*.

No but seriously. Hi.

If you want a clone then I'll send you some DNA. But only if you give me yours too

*cough*

Anyway, it seems that it depends on how you define geek. I somehow forget when writing this thread that there are plenty of awesome geeky girls out there anyway. And normally this means they are more open minded and more unique than all the off-the-shelf barbie-dolls out there : /.

Generally more my type anyway.

Man, geeky girls are lucky, they probably have loads of geeky guys crawling over them.

 I'd say that about a lot of geeks/anime fans anyway.

English Lit students rule

*poses*

*dies*

Funnily enough, I only recently found out that English Lit is a girl's subject; its only about 20% boys in my course!

Not sure if being interested in English Lit classes you as geeky, but it really does open up a new world for ya in terms of community.

And thanks for the rep thing... not EXACTLY sure how it works. But I'll give you one back cos anime fans are cool.

And what of those in the middle? Who think anime etc is kinda scary and odd, don't care about computer games but actually have brains and aren't generic barbie dolls. Wow, could it be possible that everyone is individual?

I dislike the word geek, anyway.
