Bristol - Wills Hall or Clifton Hill House - please help!!

I really don't know which one to go for...I've narrowed it down to my first choice as one of these, Clifton hill house or wills and im stuck, please any advice would be brilliant!
heres what i know so far:

CHH - strict and matronly no loudness - sounds a bit lack of fun?
also out of it in terms of socialising with other halls
Wills - stereotyped for 'rahs' - think this is probs a bit generalised
far away from the uni
also not good social life

please could anybody help or give me their opinions (whether theyre there, going there, been there, know someone whos been there etcc...)
id love a social hall that does things together eg going out etcc

I lived in CHH, one of my best friends was in Wills. They are fairly similar in terms of Rah stuff. I picked CHH for its closeness, and cos I do a lot of music stuff if I had been lugging a saxaphone around to stoke bishop all the time I would have gone mad. However I wasnt the greatest fan of CHH, but then I think I would have been the same in any halls, most people seem to love it.

Im moving this to the Bristol forum so you can get some better answers.
You go to the clubs around town you see people from all halls anyway. CHH is not as quiet as you think it is :frown: i'm having difficulty finding peace and quiet around here and i'm in the quieter all-girls wing. Social life's what you make of it really. I love the distance  and i'm staying here next year as well

Both are perfectly sociable places - any hall with 200+ people is going to promote socialising with other people. No reason why CHH should preclude socialising with other halls either - it's right next to Goldney and Manor, and a bunch of student houses. Wills social life is (or at least was last year) excellent as well IMO.

I'd go CHH. Indeed I did but didn't get in; but would do so again.

You do that a lot from Stoke Bishop as well, unless you're rich enough to afford a taxi each night.

We're not all rahs in Wills. Honest! Let's just say I've loved Wills so much that next year will be my third year here. See Wills as having a free gym workout each day attached to it - and you grow to love the walk.

I don't know about Wills - i've never been there (most people who say it is full of rahs haven't actually been) - BUT CHH is great, it really is. Matronly and strict? I don't get that feeling at all. There's a noise policy like in other halls, but rarely have we ever been confronted for noise making (and we have made lots of noise at some points!) Social life is not a problem, closer to clubs etc if you like that sort of thing (you'd be able to walk home after and save a fortune on taxis)... after a long day of lectures, seminars and hard work (can't say I empathize, I do a six hour a week degree) there is nothing better than knowing you are ten minutes away from being home with a cup of tea, rather than 40 minutes. Especially when it's raining.
I always get the feel i'm living in a big house at CHH. It's great because there's lots of corridor integration and not so many people that you can't (just) know everyone's name. Well... nearly everyone.
Good luck with your application!

At Wills it depends where you are. In old quad each block is alternately single sex. Not sure what happens in New Quad, but in in UVW block we're just one massive corridor with alternating groups of 4 guys and girls.
Clifton hell house really boring and rude people please dont go here
Clifton hill house is known as clifton hell house

im a truth teller :
Boring and rude people
no social life like parties
far away from the city centre as well as stoke bishop

I know this is an old thread but just in case anyone is put off by the posts above i wanted to add another perspective. I had lots of friends in CHH in first year in 2019/20 and they all loved it there and are always banging on about how much theyd love to live there again. Its really close to the uni about a 10-15 minute walk to campus. Clifton accomodation in general is great because its like 15 mins to the centre and 5 mins into clifton village and the bridge, its also good because you can easily visit Goldney/ manor/ richmond terrace etc. I was in goldney, but if i wanted catered i would definitely have been happy at CHH. It was really sociable and I was there pretty much every other night for something going on. I wouldn't say everyone there is posh either.
