Cambridge - gettiing laid at freshers week and interview!

Hi everyone, I am an international student and was wondering if you could please clear some doubts for me, I would really be pleased!

1) is aw something bout gettimng laid and shagging in freshers week at cambridge. i was thinking if you could please explain to me how=? i mean here in my country students try, but rarely shag in freshers as the dorm authorities would throw u out! i thought cambridge would be even more strict, i mean how do u take a girl to your dorm to shag without getting caught, don't people tell u it's not allowed?
just curious about this one!1

2) this is more academic doubt. what do u think i must expect as a tricky question in an interview on natural sciences -biology? this would be really cool if u could tell me, i hav no idea!!!!

thanks a lot for everything mates
cheers

Ok, there are virtually no rules about having people in your rooms or whatever - technically if you have a visitor from outside your college, you're meant to sign them in and they're only meant to stay a certain number of nights, but within college there's no problem. We all live on mixed staircases (in my college, at any rate!) anyway. Everyone's an adult, so why wouldn't it be allowed? However, Freshers' week antics on a shagging scale were somewhat quiet compared with what I've heard at other unis, so don't get your hopes up too much. I didn't pull and neither did an awful lot of other people.

As for the interview, I've no idea what sort of stuff they'll ask you, but basically they'll test you until you can't do any more.

I'm at Clare, doing Medicine.

The interviews are meant to be tough - designed to separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak. But keep your head and you'll be fine - and if you genuinely don't know something, admit it and try to work it out; this'll impress them more than bullshitting.

You can bring anyone back to your room, (although you can't move someone in...) so technically it would be easy to get laid in freshers' week. In practice, not many freshers here are up for that. Shame too. :-)

What college are you applying to? In my interview they held up a shell and asked me what I could deduce about the creature that used to live in it... They do lead you a bit if you need help. Oh, and there was a question about respiration - some factual stuff and then which I thought had evolved first, aerobic or anaerobic. Hope that helps:smile:

Erm, there is a maximum number of nights that someone is allowed to stay in your room per week - think it's either 2 or 3, but that's definitely allowed as long as it's not longer than that.

Taking someone back is fine. some colleges have rules about signing them in (which i take great issue to because you dont have to sign yourself out).
As for getting laid, its not as rife as at other places but it does happen. Not so much with foreign students, because they often merge with the shite english ones. Infact i would go as far as to say that im sickened by the quality of first years this year. Big bunch of f*cking geeks. I'm hoping its not a sign of things to come, that in an effort to seem more open to state applicants they are getting reclusive geeky state school pr*cks who contribute nothing to the university other than academia.

O and Haz, are you at Newhnam, and do you play hockey?

Haha, a clare medic brilliant. Do you get to see Alan, Ellen, Helen, Jane etc much, or do medic years not talk to each other a great deal?

Jane and Alan are my grandparents! Don't see them much, although we do have the occasional medic formal hall etc where we see them (and at James' 21st the other week).

Sorry that our year is disappointing you and all that  Clareifornication was complaining that Freshers weren't up to enough, when in fact we were (although yes, not as rife as it seems to be in other places), just not telling them, or we would tell them and they wouldn't print it.

It's the gossip column of the newsletter, which is called Clareification (oh, the wit!) Anyway, the important thing is I'm not in it!

Don't know about the aftermath to James' 21st - we kind of got separated from the 2nd/3rd years once we got to Cindy's, but they were all looking pretty wasted. Urgh, carrying someone back to the colony - that's not a task I envy!

What college are you at?

Corpus. We're quite well aquainted with the clare bunch. Reliably in cindys and life.
