does UCAS require teacher recommendations?

hi,
does anyone know if UCAS requires teachers to write recommendations for you? :confused:

if so how many? I am in Year 12 at the moment and my two best teachers are leaving school.. :frown:

so if teacher recommendations are required I'd like them to write it before they leave. Could someone who has already gone through the application prodecure please help me.

Your UCAS form includes a reference, which is usually filled in by a teacher in consultation with all your subject teachers.

http://www.ucas.com/getting/apply05/page4.html explains what is usually included.

The reference includes your predicted grades so I think it would be unlikely that they'd be in a position to write it before they leave.
