All (decent) schools will check the grades you enter on UCAS by asking you to bring in your examination certificates so they can confirm.
 Because your cetificates that they will want copies of will not reflect what you have written (obviously)

What would be the point of asking for information if you could just make it up?

Lying will not get you anywhere, unfortunately.

Lie at your own risk!

If you are found to be lying, universities can repeal their offers to you. Also your school will check before you submit the UCAS form what your actual grades were.

No you can't lie you can, despite what people say, withhold the truth though.

If you got a crap grade in something and don't want anyone to know just leave it off.

from 2010 you can't even do that!
When do you have to show your certificates to the university (if ever)? Is it just IN CASE they ask to see them?
Yes you can claim to have gotten straight A*'s and it will fool them. You will be able to go to whichever University you please.
Of course you can lie on UCAS. But the pertinent question here is whether you can lie and not get caught.

No you tool.
my mate genuinely lied about both gcse's and a level results and got into manchester and exeter without need to provide certification of results. he didnt go overboard but about 7 were bumped up a grade and he dropped a few others just to even things out

When do you have to show your certificates to the university Probably never because they will be able to access your data from the exam boards you claim to have qualifications from.
I was under the impression that come results day, your grades aren't entered manually; they get sent to your chosen universities and they take it from there. So lying about your grades won't really get you very far, unless you know you can make up those grades later on. You can also be asked for proof by your university, and it does happen.

In terms of employment, personal information and so forth, you can lie, but apart from the fact that it's not going to benefit your application much, if you were to be found out, the universities could, again, withdraw their offers.

Your personal statement on the other hand, you can lie on. If you know you're not going to get interviewed, then an institution isn't really to know whether you're lying or not, providing you don't claimt o have walked on the moon. If you're to be interviewed, then you'd better hope that they don't ask you anything that you've lied about.

To summarise, you can lie, but it's a huge risk, and one probably not worth taking.

I was asked for my certificates for my Birmingham interview and couldnt find most yet they still offered my a place. I think you could and if they asked just explain you 'lost' you certificates.

As if you'd ask a question like that out of interest... and as others have said, no you can't, since unis ask for copies of your certificates anyway. But be my guest and lie! It'd be quite amusing for us to watch.
