argh i cant afford to get a laptop......im going to be lugging my MASSIVE pc along.....will probably take up a whole suitcase lol

if ur laptop doesnt have centrino capabilities then you will need to get a wireless card or a dongle.........then you should be able to connect once they give you a password and username....

Any internal wireless card or a wireless slot in card (like the one taran linked to before) should both run the internet.

Anyway its worth buying either anyway, then you can sit in Costa and play on the wireless for free :|

after 5 days i finally clicked on view full version and realised how to post

Ok so yea im new to this thread. Well, sort of. Been reading from the last 5 days , posting today haha

So yea I got a reply for my accommodation today. It says Lawrence Tower 7th floor SHORT Room4. Wanted lake side, diddnt get it.. ah well

Anyways, phil and kt.. hows lawrence tower.. and will 7th floor be good? Oh my friend wanted to stay offcampus cauz we didnt get lakeside.. bu that wudnt be good wud it?..

Ill be getting there on the 19th.. Oh and yeah wheres every1 from?

Im 20 from Bombay, India.

That doesnt really matter. As I said I use a desktop and ive been able to upgrade it to improve its performance. fine. The only irritataing thing for me is I do alot of different things which need equipment lugging around to uni for. i have 2 synthesisers, a stand, mixer and other music paraphernalia as well as stupid amounts to shoes for a start lol...

Hey! I bought an easynote E2 316 Celerino M 350 1.3Ghz
- Wireless Network. It has 50 GB which i thought was quite good. I found this site online i dont know if you've seen it? www.studentcomputers.co.uk and it had pretty much the best prices and best deals for the specs involved that i could find!

So on arrival in my room, how long should it take before im hooked up to the net? Im addicted to my net... :redface:

er i dont know. you sort the net out with a private company that runs on the network. maybe katie (astonbitch) can tell you.
ok what you have to do when you get there isgo to the reception at the bottom of lawerance tower and ask for a keysurf booklet which comes with an account number....once you have this you have to log onto the keysurf website (its should be available) and sign up..........anyone who has any problems with this search me out and i'll try and help.........that should be all unless they have hanged the system this year.........

Bugz..........living in lawerenace should be fine.......most people who apply to lakeside don't get it....i didn't....if i had i wouldn't have made the friends i have today........the rooms in the towers are fine..........personally i would say stya in lawerance rather then go private

yea eminem.............clothes most students get away with jeans and t-shirts.....maybe some long sleeved ones for winter cause it gets pretty cold.......then again i have mates who wore suits so its really up to you......for nights out especially up brd strt you will need some smart/causual wear.....ie: smart jeans/black trousers, quite a few guys wear stytlsh shirts on brd strt and definately no trainers am afraid its a shoes only policy on brd strt unless ur v.lucky and they dont notice......

i need to hook myself up with the new garms too.

need some shirts, trousers, nice smart tops, long sleeves, maby new shoes, a blazer, jacket.....oh god the list could go on.....with like one month left with the credit card holders aka my parents)
Hey guys,wots the load down abt 'hoodies'? Cuz my mum said its prbly not a gd idea to wear em in the UK cuz of (i think) the 'yob' issue :s I love my hoody...cant bear to part w/ it (its not like i wear it w/ the hood up or anythng) it really isint a big deal yea?

Thanx fo rthe info on computers Kt! And i listen to eminem too, i listen to hip hop in general aswell as some other types of music. and don't worry, i wear hoodies all the time and your right it isn't a big deal at all! you can wear watever u want really! thats the kinda thing my mum wud say to me if i was moving country - just becuase she doesn't like hoodies coz she thinks that they are scruffy and not smart!!

Look love its a hoody, ie probably the most laziest piece of anti style clothing in existence. She's probably worried about you wearing them cause you look like a big bloody scruff lol (I bet its a black one too)

Hoodies are good for sports tours and hangovers.

There are plenty of societies and things to keep yourself entertained if you cant bear to live without a cheap colourfast, sweaty top.

what OOTSC banned hoodies? but yea if you plan to go to that shopping centre with a hoodie, then they aint going to let you in.

oh yea, so when going into lectures, you can pretty much wear anything cant you?

wot if i was to walk in to one with my pj's. obviously i would get laughed at but would i get kicked out? just a thought :smile:
lol ben the hoody comes w/ me (yes its black..or shuld i say was)...odd story being my dad bought in bham 4yrs ago (so its comin bk w/ me :biggrin:)

RE mutualfriend- owh! I havent heard from em either!! Im just guessing its gonna take a while cuz im an intl. student....oddly comforting im not the only one who hasnt heard from em >_<
Look treacle, so wat they are scruffy? who gives a ****, im a student right? they are comfortable to wear and thats all that matters to me. i didnt say i wear them when i go to musicals or when i visit the queen...

Football isn't really my thing (i mean i watch it when its international level, coz thats when it gets really interestin) Im more about the Formula one!! Any takers on that?
