has anyone got a reply to their accomodation forms? i'm not sure if you're not supposed to hear nething or whether crappy royal mail lost it.

I applied online instead of using forms. Ive received no correspondence afaik.

Ring up Aston and ask them to check, they did for me.
I'm doing IBML French *fingers crossed* for results
ive heard nothing about accom. presume we hear once our offers are "unconditional" i.e. we get our results and made it!
i think it said on the form that we won't hear anything about our accommodation till august.
Hows everyone's exams going??
Finished 8, still got 3 to go. I'm really worried about my grades now. i should definately get 3 B's but i need ABB for my course. Revision is going really bad, still can't focus although i've nearly finished!!
What is the minimum points that Aston will let you in with? will they take into account any extra curricular stuff you've done if you miss a grade?? help...

Aston said that they aim to help everyone who just misses grades, but it will be a process of whoever makes their grades deffo gets in, and anyone after that will be considered in due course.
blergh. im stuffed.

Nah id say far from it, they have already cut down the number of applicants by refusing entry to those who they don't think are going to meet the grades. So its not you against the entire world.

And believe me, you are probably not the only one in this situation.

Well thats how university applications work. If my predicted grades were ccc they arent likely to let me on an AAB course etc etc. Therefore the majority of people applying for your course will be predicted the right grades, but not everyone will make them. And thats where the process of choosing applicants begins, all you need to do is ring Aston on the day you get your results and explain the situation, what happened etc (your teachers will help ofc) and they will say "yeah well let you in with say ABB instead of AAB" or theyll say "Wait until weve finished giving out the places to those successful it attaining their grades" or words to that effect.

Although you may not make the grades, it is cheaper for the university to accept you, with lower grades, than it is to hope to get someone with higher grades through clearing, so you are likely to get in.

That was how i was explained what to do in that circumstance by my teachers, i would assume the same practice occurs everywhere.

Alchemy no lie yea but lasy year for my As levels i got a B in law a D in economics and i got a U...a big U in maths

although i got a b in law i got 100% in one module and was only 2 marks off an A

my U in maths was 87/300..which is terrible

i practically had to beg my maths teacher to predict me a low D grade

i begged my law teacher to predict me an A but she refused

my economics teacher had faith and predicted me a B

so my predicted grades for aston were BBD

but i felt that the fact i got 100% i n a module plus a decent statement and good gcse results was the reason i feel aston let me in....so do u think its fair that they offered me a place with BBD?

thast 260 points..well short of 320

after my AS resits i was on ABC..law eco and maths..so am hoping to get the same agen which will be 300 points

if i do get ABC and dye reject me i have a strong argument that i was predicted bbd and exceeded dose grades so...........

boy we'll have to see inniyt?

lol
last year i did physics as a 4th AS and got 79/300 hahaa!! ooh dear. ive got 1 a2 left, crime and deviance sociology on wed morning, cant wait till its over.

If there are places still left on the course thru UCAS extra does this mean the places haven't been filled? And if so they probably won't b now so do u think i'll b more likely to get in with lower grades?
Reply 58
if theres places, there are places.

You'd assume that would make it more likely.

I just applied to Aston thru UCASExtra... but before that I spoke to the university and they said that if I did not meet the offer of 320 points (International Business and Economics), they would "cascade" me to a joint honours course (for eg: Business Administration with Computing).
