You should really love the body you have- things could be much worse. I have a "pear shape" and being 5"5 and around 10 stones, im alright. But i am not into popular fashions because i choose to wear baggy clothes, so my main message to you is cherish your curvacious self always.
i read every woman is either a pear or an apple and it is fixed whree u put on weight. the only way u can change it is surgery. but pears are healthier than apples
I have a similar problem, with large hips and thighs :'(

I find that A-line skirts are the best for my shape because they widen past my thighs and give the illusion that I'm all straight lines (if you see what I mean)- forget all that tight fitting, thigh clinging denim! Also, low-ish cut trousers/jeans seem to disguise my wide hips.

Pears are fab though, embrace the womanly curves - what's more important is confidence, which is admittedly easier said than done.... and what's even more important is STYLE, which I'm sure you've got heaps off  and, what's most important of all is personality personality personality
have big hair to balance it ouout

I've read about some women who have that problem dramatically changing their body shape by working out intensively with weights. It did seem to require a lot of effort and dedication over a period of months so I suppose it depends how keen you are to do it.
