Go to Boots and buy the stuff which is similar to nail varnish and tastes yucky.

I tried those horrible tasting things. Didn't really work. In the end I just enjoyed being able to drum my nails on the table hehe. But then I got bored of that. Have you ever got a long nail, you put your teeth to it and you just really want to bite it. Then you chew it to bits. It's like trying to give up smoking or something.
ok, thanks for the advices etc.
Im a strange one, for example take my GCSES 4 years ago - for some odd reason i decided not to bite my nails at all over that period. I thought "it would be good/a test to stop doing it when perhaps it is most likely to happen". So during the whole GCSE period i stopped biting my nails...but im just so laissez faire. Im going to be strict and get all pyschological with myself now...mind games are the only way. Maybe i should tell myself that in four weeks time i will meet a beautiful woman, who just so happens to hate ugly nails...therefore i cannot afford to bite my nails

Obviously the latter isn't going to happen but it may work

I used to bite my nails, which is quite ironic cos if you would look at them now you would never guess!! I tryed so many times to stop though! What i recommend is to bite some of them and not to bite others and then gradually over a period of time stop biting them all. I know it sounds weird but it worked for me!! Oh and btw don't bother buying the stuff from boots, personally, none of the stuff worked for me, some even began to taste quite nice!

I started biting my nails in year 4 when this girl kept saying "Juno bites her nails" to everyone, and I didn't. So I decided that I would bite my nails. Although it did stop me sucking my hair.

Hi, i have the exact same problem, i have been biting my nails since i was 10 (am now 18) and i just cant stop...i even bite the skin around them and i hate doing it, they look awful but i just cant stop. I once stopped for 2 weeks when i went on holiday and i think it was because i was distracted but ever since i haven't been able to stop. It doesnt help that my boyfriend also bites his nails and the horrible stuff that u can paint on doesn't work either because i end up just sucking it off again anyway. ARGH please help!
